Rauðisandur
This sandy cost owes its name (‘red sand’) to the reddish-yellow sand composed of shell fragments that is found along the entire length of the beach. The farmland here is grassy, but restricted by steep slope beyond it crowned with a line cliffs. Here the sheep graze on the beach; the glacier Snæfellsjökull rise above the haze on the horiszon.

Rauðisandur dregur nafn sitt af rauðgulum skeljasandi sem er með allri ströndinni. Sveitin er grösug en að baki hennar er snarbrött hlíð með hamravegg efst. Féð er á beit í fjörunni og Snæfellsjökull rís úr móskunni við sjóndeildarhring.
