Kerlingafjöll are geothermal mountains in the centre of Iceland close to Kjalvegur which is a popular tourist route during the summertime (but closed off due to weather during wintertime). There are numerous boiling mud pots and steam vents in the area. Kerlingafjöll are mostly made up by Rhyolite but you can also find some Obsidian there. In the background of the photograph are two mountains called Fannborg and Snækollur.
